history

The plant in Kassel-Bettenhausen was established in 1934 on the area of the former ammunition factory. Advantages of the location were the nearby brown coal mines, the railway siding of the plant, the proximity to the Fulda, the possibility of extracting soft water and the former employees of the armaments industry. As early as 1936, Spinnfaser AG was the largest staple fiber production facility in Europe. 1244 permanent employees were employed.

After pulp prices fell, a synthetic fiber production line was also set up; from 1975 only these were produced. In 1982 the closure for 1984 was announced. The former factory site is now an industrial park.
