Spirit DSP (spelling "SPIRIT DSP") is a software company based in Moscow, Russia, privately owned by Andrei Sviridenko. It sells usage licenses and technical support for its switching software products that recode voice and video data in the background on their way through the communication networks. The so-called voice and video engines typically run on embedded systems in IP networks.

The product range includes various switching software and video conference systems, including the brands "TeamSpirit" and "VideoMost".

SPIRIT's voice and video engines are designed for several areas of application - PC and mobile communication applications ( softphones , end devices for IMS ', unified communication and company information systems ), user end devices with IP connectivity ("media phones", SIP phones , IP - additional devices, mobile internet devices) and devices of the communication infrastructure (IP gateways, ATAs , media servers etc.).

SPIRIT's VoIP software solutions are software libraries for processing multimedia data. You implement standardized (such as G.723 , G.729 , H.264 , MPEG-4 ) and proprietary (SPIRIT IP-MR ) voice and video codecs for the compression and decompression of voice and video data, RTP - Multiplexer, echo cancellation and noise suppression , packet loss masking and error correction , adapting buffers to compensate for transmission fluctuations , synchronization of audio and video, control for processor load and playback speed and so on. These components are integrated in a module within a framework application.

history

The company was founded in 1992 by Andrei Sviridenko and a former fellow student under the name Spirit, in order to further develop and market medical diagnostic software based on artificial intelligence that was developed in-house during the study period . Through a cooperation with the Japanese electronics company NEC , the business area changed to communication and navigation and Sviridenko paid off his co-owner. Since 1996 the business has focused on software products for IP communication in the area of embedded systems. The most important competitor company was Global IP Solutions until it was bought by Google Inc. and the most important software products were published as free software . In the first half of 2012, Spirit DSP grew by 80%.
