Global IP Solutions
Global IP Solutions ( GIPS , formerly Global IP Sound ) was a public company formerly traded on the Oslo Stock Exchange and headquartered in San Francisco , California. It produced embedded systems for real-time communication over IP-based networks. The company was founded in Stockholm in July 1999 by Roar Hagen ( CTO ), Bastiaan Kleijn (Chief Scientist), Espen Fjogstad and Ivar T. Hognestad and acquired by Google Inc. for 68.2 million US dollars in May 2010 . The main competitor at the time was Spirit DSP . At Global IP Solutions, the internet Low Bitrate Codec (iLBC), the internet Speech Audio Codec (iSAC) and the template for the WebRTC framework were created.
