A sports almanac is a yearbook (see almanac ) that lists past sports results. It is a periodical, usually once a year, publication on a thematically defined area of sport . The sports are not specified, but are the responsibility of the respective author . For example, there are various books that summarize major sporting events, such as the Olympic Games or soccer world championships , and others that document individual sports such as soccer . They serve as reference works and data sources.

History of the sports almanac

In 1935 the “Olympia-Sparbuch” of the kicker appeared first , which contained 27 pages of calendar, 10 pages of photos and 27 collection pages into which collective stamps for 10 Pfennig could be glued. In 1937 the title was changed to "Kicker-Almanach". Regular publications followed only later, and these have continued to this day. An almanac has been published since 2012, which not only deals with a single sport or is dedicated to a major sporting event, but also covers the entire breadth of sport. The sports almanac includes 60 sports with more than 500 competitions and begins its records in 1851. In the sports almanac you can find results, winners and places of almost every sport and the respective most important competitions. It appears every two years, always in even years, when the Olympic Games and the European or World Cup take place.
