The Eickel sports park , formerly also the Wanne-Süd sports park, is a green area in the Eickel district of Herne .

The site is home to various sports facilities, including the Mondpalast Arena , which opened on July 3, 1955, with seats for 13,500 spectators and a side square, and the sports hall, which was inaugurated on October 4, 1969, with 1740 grandstand seats. There is also a "fun park" on the site and, in the far east, the Herne-Friedgras pumping station of the Emschergenossenschaft .
