Sports center Weinzödl general view

The Graz-Weinzödl sports center is a 67,000 m² sports facility in the north of Graz.

In 2004 the facility was opened as a GAK training center. The then Bundesliga club played the games in the Liebenau stadium at that time , but financed the training center as a replacement for the club's own stadium at Körösistraße 57, home since 1902 and at that time still used as a training ground, and built with apartments the following year has been.

The facility itself consists of four natural grass pitches and one artificial turf pitch (each with floodlights), plus a goalie training area (natural grass), an "endurance hill" and a hard court. A restaurant, conference rooms, offices, changing rooms and 11 player homes (with 22 beds) as well as 2 coach relaxation rooms are housed in the main building with an attached grandstand.

After the bankruptcy of the soccer section of the GAK , the training center initially went to a group of investors and, after some discussions, was ultimately taken over by the city of Graz in June 2013 and operated by the Messe Congress Graz operating company. The city's plans to establish other ball sports were initially not pursued for financial reasons, but are to be implemented in the future for a few of the sports originally mentioned.

Use by the GAK and its youth sports club, the GAK Juniors, continues to dominate . After relegation to the regional league , the GAK initially stayed in Graz-Liebenau, but already played a few games in the Weinzödl sports center. Since the restart in 1st class, the GAK 1902 home games have been held exclusively in the Weinzödl sports center. For this purpose, with the help of the fans, an additional grandstand was built on the east side to increase the audience capacity.

In 2019 the west grandstand was to be rebuilt and the standing room roofed over. The GAK wanted to contribute € 300,000 of the estimated € 1.4 million. The venue should thus meet the requirements of the 2nd league in the event that the GAK should rise. However, this project ultimately failed due to excessive costs to comply with the site regulations. That is why the GAK, which was promoted to the 2nd division, will play its home games in the Liebenau stadium at least in the 2019/20 season.

In addition, a facility for Anglo-American sports is being built northeast of the sports center.

The youth soccer club GAK-Juniors uses a building at the northern end of the sports center as a club house, the GAK 1902 has adapted a former restaurant in the immediate vicinity of the sports center as a club ("Club 1902").
