Vocal user interface

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term vocal user interface ( SBS , English voice user interface , VUI ) refers to the user interface of speech dialogue systems based on a graphical user interface .

The input and output takes place via spoken language. Hands are not required for this, and a display does not have to be observed. In addition to telephony, the main areas of application are IVR smartphones with their personal assistance systems such as Siri or Google Now .

A favorable dialog design tries to bring out the advantages of a vocal user interface and to alleviate its limitations.

For the development of user-friendly dialog systems, the implementation of Wizard-of-OZ tests is recommended to ensure good usability of the speech dialog during development.
