Spree tunnel at Klosterstrasse

The Spree Tunnel, Klosterstrasse, is located between the present-day Klosterstrasse and Märkisches Museum underground stations in the Mitte district of Berlin . It is a section of today's underground line 2 ( PankowRuhleben ).

Construction of this tunnel under the Spree began in June 1910. The construction of the tunnel was commissioned by the Hochbahngesellschaft in Berlin to expand its rail network from Spittelmarkt via Alexanderplatz to Schönhauser Allee . The tunnel is about 125 meters long. The bottom of the tunnel is about 11 meters below the surface of the water.
