Grunewald blasting site

The explosion stand Grunewald is a 200 m × 200 m large area in the Berlin district Nikolassee the district Steglitz-Zehlendorf . It is used for the (temporary) storage and rendering harmless by detonating found ammunition by the ordnance disposal service of the Berlin police .

Around six to eight large explosions and around 70 smaller explosions are carried out every year. The latter serve to render duds harmless or are used for training. The operation of the blasting site costs around 1 million euros per year.

The blasting site is located in the Grunewald southwest of the Hüttenweg motorway exit , about 600 meters as the crow flies from the A 115 ( AVUS ). The motorway is closed in the event of large explosions.
