Syringe machine is the name of an aid used by the drug scene to obtain sterile syringes and to be beneficial to health. It is a machine where drug users can get sterile syringes for a fee. Sterile injection water and ascorbic acid are also often available. However, these machines are not of commercial interest. They serve to improve the hygienic and health conditions within the drug scene, which is still grappling with the problem of contaminated syringes through shared use. The infectious diseases HIV and hepatitis C are mainly transmitted through exchanged syringes.

In contrast to other dispensing devices, a syringe machine has the advantage that sterile syringes can be purchased regardless of the time of day. In addition, this is anonymous, which benefits a broad acceptance.

Most of the machines also have an opening for disposing of used syringes. This is to prevent passers-by and especially children from being endangered by syringes lying around.

Again and again, residents felt disturbed by such a machine. So it came about B. in Berlin-Spandau on the willful destruction of a machine two weeks after it was installed. Another machine in Berlin-Kreuzberg was totally demolished several times within a few months.
