The Sproat Lake is a freshwater lake on Vancouver Iceland in British Columbia in Canada .

Sproat Lake is about 13 kilometers west of Port Alberni . It is located in Sproat Lake Provincial Park together with the Douglas fir forest surrounding it . Since the lakeshore has many beaches, the area is attractive for tourists. For this reason a remarkable number of holiday homes have been built near the lake . Tourists particularly appreciate the lake because of its warm water, which is ideal for a variety of leisure activities. You can go fishing, swimming, water skiing and windsurfing there. In summer, the area is also very popular with campers .

Every year around 1 million tourists visit the lake. If you are coming by car, you can get directly to the lake via Highway 4 or the Great Central Lake Road .

The two remarkable Martin Mars fire-fighting planes from Flying Tankers Inc. are stationed on this lake . They were specially converted to extinguish forest fires and are the largest flying boats in the world ever to be built in series. The lake is named after Gilbert Malcolm Sproat (1834–1913), the co-founder of the first sawmill in Port Alberni.
