Spurius Carvilius (envoy)

Spurius Carvilius was a in the first half of the 2nd century BC. Living member of the Roman plebeian family of the Carvilians .

In the run-up to the impending war between Rome and the Macedonian king Perseus , Carvilius was killed in early 171 BC. Commissioned by Gnaeus Sicinius to travel back from Greece to Italy to inform the Senate of the situation there. At that time Perseus had also sent an embassy to Rome . When their representatives gave the Senate insufficient answers to the accusations made against the Macedonian king, they had to leave Italy within eleven days. Carvilius had to escort the ambassadors to their ships. Otherwise nothing is known about him.
