Pirna municipal brewery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pirna Municipal Beer Brewery was a brewery in Pirna , at the gateway to Saxon Switzerland .

history

At the end of the 19th century there were seven breweries in Pirna. The brewery with the longest production was the municipal brewery . Adolf Maultzsch took over this in 1874 and renamed it the Bergschloßbrauerei . In 1889 the Schrey brothers took over the brewery and renamed it Bergschlößchen Brewery & Malzfabrik . In 1907 they founded the joint stock company Brauerei Bergschlößchen, Gebr. Schrey AG . The Dresdner Felsenkeller brewery owned a large proportion of the shares. After taking over the Pirna malt factory from J. Ph. Lipps & Co. in 1905, the company sought to expand . In 1927 the brewery became the Felsenkeller Pirna AG breweryrenamed. In 1933 the independent brewing activity ended, since then the branch of the Dresden Felsenkellerbrauerei has only bottled its beer.

In 1978 the brewery was completely closed. Until 1990 it still functioned as a sales station for VEB Beverage Supply Pirna . Today there is a senior center opened in 2012 on the site of the demolished brewery.
