Permanent work underground is a term from the miners 'supply, which is defined in § 61 SGB ​​VI and is relevant for the entitlement to certain miners' services.

Permanent work underground is therefore work after December 31, 1967, which by its nature is exclusively carried out underground. Work that was mainly carried out underground in the accession area before January 1, 1992 is also considered permanent underground work according to Section 254a SGB ​​VI.   • Work that is partially carried out above ground if at least 18 shifts take place underground in a calendar month; Shifts that are canceled due to a public holiday are considered to have been carried out underground
  • Working as a member of the mine rescue team with the exception of the equipment control room
  • Working as a member of the works council if the employee is released from permanent work underground during this time

Shifts are also considered to be working underground if they are absent due to incapacity for work or vacation or the employee is in medical rehabilitation or a measure to participate in working life or a preventive cure during this time ; The prerequisite is that contributions are paid in the current calendar month due to permanent underground work and that permanent underground work has been carried out for at least one month in the previous three months.
