history
In 1934 the brothers Paul and Wilhelm Stöber founded a mechanical workshop in Pforzheim. In 1943, the company launched a gear motor it had developed itself with a continuously adjustable friction gear for speed adjustment.
Due to constant improvement, these Stöber geared motors represented the state of the art for a long time and in the 1960s led the company to world market leadership for continuously variable speed geared motors.
In the mid-1980s, the technical director of the second generation, Bernd Stöber, set the course for the development and integration of digital drive technology into the Stöber product range. From this the company developed into a system manufacturer.
In 2008 a turnover of 90 million euros was achieved.
In 2011, the 20th anniversary of the American subsidiary STOBER Drives was celebrated. In the same year, the list of subsidiaries was expanded through the establishment of own companies in Japan and Singapore.
A fourth plant was completed in Pforzheim in January 2014. In addition to the 560 jobs in the three existing plants, 30 jobs were created.
