Nicolas Ager

Nicolas Ager (also d ' Agerius ) (* 1568 in Itenheim, Alsace ; † June 20, 1634 in Strasbourg ) was an Alsatian botanist .

Life

Nicolas Ager studied in Basel , but did his doctorate in Strasbourg, where he also became professor of medicine and botany from 1618 . He also dealt with zoophytes , questions of nutrition and mental illness.

Honors

The Paederota ageria plant is named after him. Also the plant genus Ageria Adans. from the holly family (Aquifoliaceae) is named after him.
