St. Georg is a chapel in Burghöchstadt , a district of Burghaslach in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district .

Location and history

The monument is located on the eastern edge of Burghöchstadt on the 403 meter high Kirchberg, directly on State Road 2256. As early as 1336 a chapel was mentioned. However, since the gallery and baptismal font are dated to the 1st half of the 17th century, the current chapel was probably built around 1600. The chancel closes on three sides, the wooden altar structure is said to date from 1704. To the east there is an eight-sided, sheet-metal bell tower with a retracted onion dome on a profiled wooden eaves, pommel and weather valve.

The chapel is listed in the Bavarian Monument Protection Act under the number D-5-75-116-27 with the following designation: “Kath. St. Georg chapel, hall building, single-storey saddle roof building, on it roof turrets with bell dome, smooth house frames, arched portal, around 1600; with equipment; Cemetery wall, quarry stone ”.
