history

The St. Marien Hospital was opened in 1865. The sisterhood of the 3rd order of St. Francis zu Mauritz near Münster took on the tasks of nursing for 144 years until 2009. At the turn of the century (1899/1900) the house still had capacity for about 100 patients, these were increased by structural measures expanded to 500 beds by the 1920s. 1970 began with a new building. The rescue helicopter Christoph 8 was stationed at the hospital from 1974. In 2008 the St. Marien Hospital merged with the St. Christophorus Hospital in Werne under the umbrella of St. Rochus GmbH. Since 2017, the houses have jointly formed the Katholisches Klinikum Lünen-Werne GmbH.
