St. Stephen Church

The Church of St. Stapanos ( Armenian Կալինինգրադի Սուրբ Ստեփանոս եկեղեցի Galininkrati Surp Sdebanos Egeghedzi ) is an Armenian Apostolic Church in Koenigsberg (today Kaliningrad), which is dedicated to St. Stafanus Sjunetsi. It is the first Armenian church that was built in the Baltic States - Scandinavia and belongs to the diocese of " Nor-Nakhichevan and Russia ".

The church was built on the initiative of the Armenian Felix Geworkjan and the Lukoil general director of the Königsberg oil field, Yuri Stepanowitsch Kadschojan. The architect was Ruben Azatjan . The construction was financed by the Armenian community of Königsberg, the Union of Armenians in Russia and aid organizations. The church was consecrated on October 14, 2006. Ezras Nersissjan became bishop in the name of the Catholicos of All Armenians , Karekin II Nersissian . The consecration took place in the presence of the Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Saint Petersburg, Ruben Hakobjan, the Vice President of the Union of Armenians of Russia, Herman Ananjanz, as well as a member of the Regional and City Duma, the Minister of the Koenigsberg Oblast Administration , heads of various companies, companies and economic organizations, as well as representatives of the national-cultural autonomy of the oblasts.

The height of St. Stephen's Church, built in the traditional Armenian style , is 21 meters, the church area is 280 square meters. The church has a capacity of 200 people. The interior of the church is made of red tufa and reliefs carved by masters from Armenia. The total area of ​​the community is 1 hectare.
