The Japan Football League 2005 was the seventh season of the Japan Football League . Sixteen clubs took part in it. The season started on March 27th and ended on December 4th, 2005.

Ehime FC won the championship and was promoted to the J. League Division 2 in 2006 . Due to the planned expansion to eighteen clubs for the following season , there were no relegated athletes.

mode

The clubs held a simple double round tournament . There were three points for a win; in the event of a tie, each team received a counter. The table for each semi-series was created according to the following criteria:

  1. Number of points scored
  2. Goal difference
  3. Goals scored
  4. Results of the games among themselves
  5. Decision game or coin toss

For promotion to the J. League Division 2 2006 , only clubs that met sporting and economic criteria and withstood a final review by the J. League were eligible. A relegation to the regional leagues was not planned for the coming season due to the expansion of the field of participants to eighteen teams .

Attendees

A total of sixteen teams took part in the season. The previous season champion, Ōtsuka Pharmaceuticals SC , and third-placed Thespa Kusatsu , both of whom were promoted to the J. League Division 2 in 2005 , were no longer there . In addition, the table penultimate Kokushikan University FC was excluded from further participation in the league one match day before the end of the season due to an immorality scandal that affected a large part of the players.

To replace the eliminated clubs, the three best clubs in the 2004 regional league finals , Mitsubishi Motors Mizushima FC , Ryūtsū Keizai University FC and Honda Lock FC , were promoted to the Japan Football League.

Also before this season, a club renamed itself; Gunma FC Horikoshi deleted the prefectural name from its name and played as FC Horikoshi that season .
