Mukō ( Japanese 向日 市 , - shi ) is a Japanese city in the north of Kyoto prefecture .
history
From 784 to 794, the capital of Japan at that time , Nagaoka-kyō , was in what is now the southern urban area together with the area of the neighboring city of Nakaokakyō and the Kyoto district of Nishikyō-ku .
Mukō was appointed Shi on October 1, 1972 .
