Kizugawa ( Japanese 木 津 川 市 , -shi ) is a Japanese city in the south of Kyoto Prefecture .

history

From 740 to 744 the Japanese capital Kuni-kyō was in the city area .

The city of Kizugawa was founded on March 12, 2007 from the former parishes of Kizu, Yamashiro, and Kamo. In the Kamo district there is the Kaijūsen-ji temple founded in 735 , the Gansen-ji temple founded in the Nara period and the Jōruri-ji temple founded in the Heian period .
