At the end of the 2004 season, after winning the championship title and a subsequent third place in the national regional league finals, the first promotion to the Japan Football League followed .
Honda Lock was only able to hold out in the new league for two years before being relegated back to the regional league due to a defeat in the relegation games against FC Gifu . The regional league title was missed in each of the following two seasons, but in 1998 they qualified again for the regional league finals with third place in the Shakaijin Cup .
