The Japan Football League 2000 was the second season of the Japan Football League . Twelve clubs took part in it. The season began on April 16 and ended on November 12, 2000. Yokohama FC successfully defended its title and was accepted into the J. League Division 2 in 2001 after the end of the season .

mode

During the season, the clubs played a simple double round tournament against each other. If there was a tie after 90 minutes, the playing time was extended by two fifteen minutes, whereby the golden goal rule was applied. If it was still a draw after that, the game was counted as such.

There were three points for a win after regular time and two points for a win in extra time; in the event of a tie there was a counter for each team. The table for each semi-series was created according to the following criteria:

  1. Number of points scored
  2. Goal difference
  3. Goals scored
  4. Results of the games among themselves
  5. Decision game or coin toss

There was no relegation to the regional league. For promotion to the J. League Division 2 in 2001 , only clubs that met sporting and economic criteria and withstood a final review by the J. League were eligible.
