The 1993 Japan Football League was the second season of the Japan Football League , a league at the second and third levels of the Japanese football league hierarchy. A total of twenty clubs took part in it.
Champion and promoted to the J. League 1994 was Fujita , in addition, the runner-up Júbilo Iwata made the leap into paid football. The only relegated from Division 2 to the Regionalliga was Toho Titanium , after both Seinō Transportation and Kofu Soccer Club were able to assert themselves in their relegation games against the two best-placed teams in the Regional League finals .
Both divisions were merged after the end of the season due to the withdrawal and the subsequent dissolution of the two Division 2 teams NKK and Toyota Motor Higashi-Fuji .
mode
The twenty teams were divided into two divisions of ten teams each. Each division played a simple double round tournament , so each club had to play a total of 18 games. Similar to the J. League mode in 1993 , there were no draws; are level after 90 minutes of the playing time was about twice fifteen minutes extended , the golden goal rule was used. If it was still a draw after that, the winner of the game was determined by a penalty shoot-out . The table was created according to the following criteria:
- Number of victories
- Goal difference
- Goals scored
- Results of the games among themselves
- Decision game or coin toss
The two best teams in Division 1 rose to the J. League in 1994 , provided they had the status of a so-called Associate Member of the J. League. Two teams were to be exchanged between the two divisions at the end of the season, but this was made obsolete by the withdrawal of two teams at the end of the season and the subsequent merger of the two divisions. The worst team in Division 2 was relegated to the corresponding regional league , the two overlying teams played relegation games against the two best teams in the regional league finals .
Attendees
As in the previous year, a total of twenty teams took part in two divisions. The best eight teams of the previous season and the two promoted teams from Division 2 of the previous year formed Division 1.
With the start of the J. League, a so-called associate membership system was introduced. This meant that clubs interested in professional football could submit an application for membership, which was granted if all economic and organizational requirements were met and at the same time a place among the two best teams of a season was achieved. In the 1993 season, the three clubs Fujita , Yamaha FC Júbilo Iwata and Hitachi FC Kashiwa Reysol received this status. Yamaha and Hitachi officially renamed their teams before the start of the season, while Fujita only unofficially carried the name Shonan Bellmare .
