The Nazionale italiana cantanti (NIC) ("Italian National Singer Football Team "), also known as Nazionale cantanti for short , is an Italian football team made up of well-known Italian singers. It was founded in 1981 and has charitable causes.

history

The team goes back to an idea by songwriter Mogol to bring together well-known representatives of the Italian pop music scene to play football for charity. Since 1969 he had occasionally organized games; In 1981 he managed to put together a permanent team. In addition to himself, this consisted of Gianni Morandi , Andrea Mingardi , Riccardo Fogli , Umberto Tozzi , Pupo , Paolo Mengoli , Pino D'Angiò , Gianni Bella , Sandro Giacobbe and Oscar Prudente . The young manager Gianluca Pecchini was part of the initiative . After initial difficulties, the project received more and more attention. In 1984 Enrico Ruggeri and Eros Ramazzotti joined them, a game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris was a great success, the proceeds went to the Ospedale Gaslini in Genoa .

A first international game led to Belgrade . Newly arrived Luca Barbarossa in the team. In 1987, the team took on a club structure , including Paolo Vallesi , Ligabue , Biagio Antonacci , Luca Carboni and Paolo Belli . In the same year Gianni Morandi, Enrico Ruggeri and Umberto Tozzi won the Sanremo Festival , and their winning song Si può dare di più was also declared the team's anthem. With increasing popularity, the project La partita del cuore was launched in 1992 , an annual football match of the Nazionale italiana cantanti, which is broadcast on television. On June 3rd of that year the first game took place in the Olympic Stadium in Rome with great success, the proceeds of which went to the Associazione Italiana contro le leucemie ( leukemia ) and the Associazione donatori di midollo osseo ( bone marrow donation ). In 2000, the Partita del cuore attracted particular attention, as the opposing team consisted of Palestinians and Israelis and the Nobel Peace Prize winners Shimon Peres and Yasser Arafat were among the guests of honor .

The association is now organized as ONLUS . A large number of young and older Italian singers have already taken part in the team's games and the Partita del cuore is an annual television event . In 2005 La Partita del Cuore - Umanità senza Confini was set up as a separate non-profit organization.
