Amadeus (civil: Amedeo Umberto Rita Sebastiani ; born September 4, 1962 in Ravenna , Italy ) is an Italian radio and television presenter.

Sebastiani was born to Sicilian parents in Ravenna , from where he came to Verona because of his father's job . He started at Radio Verona, a local broadcaster, and moved to Milan , where he worked for Radio DeeJay from 1987 to 1994 . He has been working in television since 1993. In 1999 he moved from Mediaset to RAI . From 2002 to 2006 he hosted the quiz show L'eredità . Then he returned to Mediaset.

After seven years of separation, he was divorced in 2007 from Marisa Di Martino, with whom he has a daughter. On July 12, 2009, he married the Neapolitan dancer Giovanna Civitillo , to whom he had been engaged since 2003. On January 19, 2009 she had already given birth to her son Josè Alberto.

Radio career

In Milan from 1987 to 1994 he accompanied the rise of Radio DeeJay from a local to a national broadcaster. For the next two years he was one of the top speakers for Radio Capital Music Network, where he designed various programs with Luca Laurenti , Dj Angelo and Stefano Tacconi .

After twelve years he returned in November 2008 with the program “Casa Sebastiani” on RTL 102.5 .

Television career

Mediaset

His television career began after several appearances on DeeJay Television , alongside Jovanotti officially in 1993, when he was appointed by Vittorio Salvetti to design the festival bar. Amadeus designed this summer program until 1997. 1995–1996 he supported Lorella Cuccarini in the moderation of Buona Domenica , a partnership that was repeated three years later at Trenta ore per la vita . In 1998 he presented Il Quizzone on Italia 1 together with Laura Freddi . The great success came with “Meteore” on Italia 1 with the support of Gene Gnocchi and Alessia Merz . The same applies to Matricole , which he moderated with Simona Ventura before switching to Rai .

Rai

He started at Rai Due in early 1999 with the management of the “Festa di Classe”. In September 1999 he switched to Rai Uno with the presentation of the very successful and long-lasting Sunday platform Domenica In . But very soon he became “Signore of the previous evening”, first with “In bocca al lupo!”, Then with the quiz show , and finally with L'eredità , which he did in August 2002 in the Dear studios in Rome and from September 2002 to June 2005 from the studios Corso Sempione the Rai moderated in Milan . In September 2005 the production returned to the Dear studios in Rome. In 2004 he ran the reality show Music Farm with moderate success , which Simona Ventura took over the following year.

Return to Mediaset

Amadeus returned to his beginnings in September 2006 after disagreements with the top of the Rai who opposed his promotion to the main evening moderation. He started the evening program Formula segreta on Canale 5 with the first episode on his 44th birthday, which was abruptly canceled at the request of Pier Silvio Berlusconi because of the poor Auditel results and because it did not compare with his earlier program L'Eredità could withstand, which has now been presented by Carlo Conti on Rai Uno. From May 7, 2007 he finished the evening before Canale 5 with 1 contro 100 over the whole summer with Giovanna Civitillo . This last program did not meet the expectations of the network in the least. Return to the radio

From September 2008 to June 2009 he moderated the Casa Sebastiani on the radio station RTL 102.5 . He is currently moderating Miseria e Nobilità on RTL 102.5 from Monday to Friday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. together with Conte Galè.

Return to Rai

On July 21, 2008 he hosted the Venice Music Awards together with Manuela Arcuri on Rai 2 . Since 2009 he has hosted the program Mezzogiorno in famiglia with Laura Barriales and Sergio Friscia . In 2014, Laura Barriales was replaced by Alessia Ventura. He participated as a juror in the auditions and the evening show of the third season of the Italian version of X-Factor . From March 1st, 2010 to May 2010, he moderated the program Cuore di mamma by Rai 2.

Since 2015 Amadeus has been moderating the program Stasera tutto è possibile , which is the Italian version of Jetzt wird's weird .

Other media

• He played in the film Laura non c'è by Antonio Bonifacio and in the role as himself in the film Il pranzo della domenica by Carlo Vanzina .
• He recorded two singles: Tutti Al Mare (1992) and Saltellare del (1991).

Oddities

• In an episode of L'eredità , during the "duel" there was a difference of opinion with a clearly aggressive candidate, Pedro, which ended with him leaving the studio and letting his opponent win.
• In a few episodes of L'eredità , he appeared with a blindfold.
• In the broadcast on May 8, 2007 by 1 contro 100 , he revealed that he was color-blind . Even while moderating L'eredità , he has already mentioned several times that he cannot distinguish some colors very well.
