Lorella Cuccarini (born August 10, 1965 in Rome ) is an Italian television presenter , dancer , singer and actress .

Life

Starts as a showgirl and singer

After she had attended her first dance classes at the age of nine, years later she made her beginnings in show business as a dancer in a dance group that appeared in television shows such as Beppe Grillo's “Te lo do io il Brasile” and Pippo Franco's “Tastomatto” . During an advertising convention for the ice cream brand Algida in February 1985, where she appeared as a dancer, she was discovered by Pippo Baudo , who subsequently hired her as a showgirl on the Italian state television RAI for his program “Fantastico 6” on Rai Uno . Her performances brought her great popularity. With the musical intro for "Fantastico 6", "Sugar Sugar", Lorella Cuccarini also managed to enter the Italian charts and advanced to number 6.

In 1986 she was confirmed on the side of Pippo Baudo and Alessandra Martines for "Fantastico 7". The seventh edition of Fantastico became the most watched TV show of the year with a peak of over 15 million viewers. As in the previous edition, she sang the musical intro of the show. The song "Tutto matto" again proved to be a success with number 7 in the charts and was subsequently used in a modified version for the advertising campaign of the kitchen manufacturer Scavolini , for which Lorella Cuccarini was under contract for the following 17 years. The outro song "L'amore è" sung together with Alessandra Martines reached number 19 in the charts.

In autumn 1987 she switched to private competitor Mediaset , at that time still Fininvest. There she moderated a musical entertainment program together with Pippo Baudo, who also went to Mediaset, and sang its musical intro and outro. The intro song "Io ballerò" was again a success with 4th place as the best chart placement. In 1988 she became a member of the moderation team for the entertainment and satirical program "Odiens" by program author Antonio Ricci on Canale 5 . Her intro song "La notte vola" reached number 8 in the charts. With the program “Odiens” Lorella Cuccarini made the leap from showgirl to presenter.

Her professional career experienced a further success boost from 1990 onwards with the pilot edition of the entertainment program Paperissima realized by Antonio Ricci on Canale 5. The first season of Paperissima became the most watched program of the season with up to around 12 million viewers and became one of the longest-running shows on Italian television. Overall, Lorella Cuccarini then moderated, first together with Ezio Greggio and then with Marco Columbro , from 1990 to 2001 six of the first seven seasons. In the meantime, she presented three seasons of the Sunday afternoon program Buona Domenica on Canale 5 as well as other entertainment programs and TV galas from 1991 to 1993 together with Marco Columbro and in 1995/1996 together with Amadeus and Claudio Lippi . In February 1993 she also co-moderated the 43rd edition of the Sanremo Festival , directed by Pippo Baudo . In 1993 she was also one of the co-founders of the non-profit children's aid movement Trenta ore per la vita , which also includes an annual television gala as a fundraising campaign.

Parallel to her television career, she pursued her career as a singer and made her debut in 1992 as an actress with a supporting role in the television film Piazza di Spagna . With her first solo CD Voci , she reached platinum status in 1993 with 100,000 CDs sold . Two years later she took part as a singer with the song Un altro amore no at the Sanremo Festival in 1995 and published her second solo CD with Voglia di fare . In 1997 she began a theater career with the musical Grease , which was another popular success. The musical was performed a total of 320 times in Italy up to 1999 and attracted around 400,000 visitors.

In 2002 Lorella Cuccarini returned to RAI, where she performed the Saturday evening show Uno di noi on Rai Uno together with Gianni Morandi and Paola Cortellesi and in 2003 together with Marco Columbro Scommettiamo che ...? , an Italian variation on Wetten dass ..? , moderated. In the acting field, she played one of the leading roles in the four-part television film Amiche for RAI in 2004 and in the six-part television film Lo zio d'America 2 in 2005/2006 . However, the return to the RAI turned out to be disappointing and after the removal of Scommettiamo che ...? without a separate broadcast for Lorella Cuccarini. Finally, she left the state broadcaster in 2007 and briefly returned to Mediaset. In the meantime she brought the musical Sweet Charity to the stage in 2006 and went on tour with it until March 2007 .

After making several guest appearances on television in 2006 and 2007, she returned in 2008 on Canale 5 with the program La sai l'ultima? at the side of Massimo Boldi as moderator. The program, which was broadcast between 1992 and 2002 and whose production was resumed in 2008, was canceled after only four broadcasts. This was followed by various individual appearances on the Mediaset channels before she switched to Rupert Murdoch's pay-TV channel Sky Italia in spring 2009 and there the casting show Vuoi ballare con me? as the Italian version of Your Mama Don't Dance? moderated. At the beginning of 2010 she also returned to the stage with the musical version of the film Alarm im Weltall .
