Ezio Greggio (born April 7, 1954 in Cossato ) is an Italian comedian, actor , film director and screenwriter .

Television career

Greggio had his first television appearance on the former Telebiella, the first Italian local television. Director and entrepreneur Giuseppe Sacchi, who founded it, hired the then 18-year-old. In the RAI Gregio debuted as a comedian in 1978 in the program La sberla and Tutto compreso of Giancarlo Nicotra and Giancarlo Magalli . In his sketches, which initially had only moderate success, he worked with Gianfranco D'Angelo , with whom he switched to the newly founded "Fininvest" (now Mediaset ) and achieved great popularity there with the Drive In, which they both led .

In 1988 Greggio directed Canale 5 at Odiens for Antonio Ricci , who soon took him to his new show Paperissima , which first aired in 1990. Again, Greggio turned out to be a brilliant comedian and an efficient creator of gags and scenes. In addition to the third season of this show, the satirical program Striscia la notizia was a multi-award-winning program over the years, in which Enzo Iacchetti , Michelle Hunziker and Franco Neri also participated in key functions .

For Mediaset, Greggios directed a number of television series. In the summer of 2008 he directed the new program Veline .

Film work

Greggio was on screen for the first time in Sbamm! (1980), for which he also contributed the script. This made Carlo Vanzina aware of him, who cast him for yuppies - I giovani di successo - which turned out to be a cult film and satirized the youth scene of that time. Greggio later played in the sequel Yuppies 2, which was written in 1986 and directed by Enrico Oldoini . In addition to Paolo Rossi , he was in Montecarlo Gran Casinò the following year and then in several parodic works such as Vacanze di Natale '90 , Vacanze di Natale '91 , Anni 90 , Infelici e contenti or Miracolo italiano .

In 1994 Greggio made his directorial debut with The Silence of the Mutton , which was filmed in the USA . During the stay there, a friendship developed with Mel Brooks, which also led to a cameo in his Dracula - Dead but Happy 1995. In the same year he could be seen in Carlo Vanzina's Selvaggi .

The next directorial work was the farces Killer per caso (1997) and Svitati (1999), recognizable in the footsteps of his role model and friend Mel Brooks. In 2008 he played again in Un'estate al mare for Carlo Vanzina and in Il papà di Giovanna for Pupi Avati , in the latter his first dramatic role in a story from the time of fascism. Greggio was awarded the Nastro d'Argento for his interpretation .

In 2011 Greggio directed the parody Box Office 3D - Il film dei film , which premiered during the Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica in Venice.

Other

Greggio is known as a football fan; he was president of Corbetta FC for a while and is an avowed fan of Juventus Turin .

He has directed the Monte Carlo film festival de la comédie several times .

Awards

Between 1984 and 2008, Greggio received the Telegatto twenty-five times for the best satirical-comic show and was named best director seven times. He was also able to book a number of other awards for himself and his programs.
