The Japan Football League 2011 was the thirteenth season of the Japan Football League . Eighteen clubs took part in it. The season was originally supposed to start on March 13, 2011 and end on November 27, but due to the Tōhoku earthquake that took place two days earlier , the start was postponed to April 23 and the end to December 11.
Sony Sendai FC was hardest hit by the quake and was only able to enter the competition at the beginning of July due to the damage in the region. For the club from Miyagi Prefecture , only the seventeen games of the second half of the season were included in the official rating.
The championship was won for the third time in five years by Sagawa Shiga FC . Promoted to J. League Division 2 2012 were the extraordinary J. League members FC Machida Zelvia and Matsumoto Yamaga FC . There were no relegated athletes in the regional leagues, but both JEF Reserves and Arte Takasaki withdrew from play after the end of the season. Since the withdrawal of Arte Takasaki took place after the promoted from the regional leagues for the 2012 season had already been determined, only seventeen teams took part in the following season.
mode
Due to the Tōhoku earthquake in 2011 , some changes to the mode were necessary. Sony Sendai FC , which were hardest hit by the quake, applied to the league to temporarily suspend gaming. This was approved so that the club only entered the competition with the start of the second half of the season on July 3. The following regulations applied:
- For Sony Sendai, only the 17 games of the second half of the season, played according to the schedule for game days 18 to 34, were included in the rating; the club was classified in the table according to the points it scored in the games.
- Sony Sendai also took part in the rescheduled games for the first six game days. These games, officially known as 東 日本 大 震災 災害 復興 支援 試 合 ( Higashinihon daishinsai saigai fukkō shien shiai , German translation about "Games to support the reconstruction after the Tōhoku earthquake"), were considered regular competitive games, but were not included in the evaluation. Nevertheless, Sony Sendai was able to use all points scored in these games as bonus points for the purpose of determining who were relegated.
- The other clubs held a simple double round tournament as usual , so a total of 33 games (32 games among themselves and the respective second round match against Sony Sendai) were included in the rating.
There were three points for a win; in the event of a tie, each team received a counter. The table was created according to the following criteria:
- Number of points scored
- Goal difference
- Goals scored
- Results of the games among themselves
- Decision game or coin toss
For promotion to the J. League Division 2 2012 , as usual, only clubs that had the Extraordinary Membership of the J. League , finished in the top four of the table at the end of the season and withstood a final review by the J. League were eligible .
The two worst teams were originally supposed to relegate directly to the regional leagues, and relegation games were also planned for the sixteenth against the third-placed team in the regional league finals . However, with the rise of Machida Zelvia and Matsumoto Yamaga in the J. League and the withdrawal of JEF Reserves at the end of the season, this rule was not applied.
Attendees
A total of eighteen teams took part in the season. No longer there was the promoted to the J. League Division 2 2011 , Gainare Tottori , and the relegated to the regional league , Ryūtsū Keizai University FC . Arte Takasaki was able to keep the class in the relegation against the third placed in the regional league final round 2010, Sanyo Electric Sumoto SC, so that only the champion and the runner-up of the regional league final round, Kamatamare Sanuki and AC Nagano Parceiro , rose.
Prior to the start of this season, Kamatamare was also granted extraordinary J. League member status . The number of extraordinary members in the league remained again at four teams, with FC Machida Zelvia , Matsumoto Yamaga FC and V-Varen Nagasaki being the other clubs with this status.
