Moriyama ( Japanese 守 山 市 , - shi ) is a city in Shiga Prefecture in Japan .

history

During the Edo period , Moriyama was a post office ( 宿 場 町 Shukuba-machi ) of the Nakasendō .

Moriyama was on April 1, 1889 a Mura in Yasu-gun ( 野 洲 郡 ) and on February 1, 1904 a Chō . On July 10, 1941, Shinobe ( 物 部 村 , -mura ) was born in Kurita-gun ( 栗 太 郡 ) and on January 15, 1955 Hayano ( 速 野村 , -mura ), Kawanishi ( 河西村 , -mura ), Otsu ( 小津 村 , -mura ) and Tamatsu ( 玉 津 村 , -mura ) in the Yasu-gun and on March 1, 1957 parts of Nakasu ( 中洲 村 , -mura ) incorporated in the same gun in Moriyama.

He was appointed Shi on July 1, 1970.
