Adriano Correia Claro , known as Adriano or Adriano Correia (born October 26, 1984 in Curitiba ), is a Brazilian soccer player . The Brazilian international plays both as a full-back and as a midfielder , mainly on the left. He has both Brazilian and Spanish citizenship.

Adriano started his career with Coritiba FC in his hometown. In January 2005 he moved to the Spanish first division club Sevilla FC , with whom he signed a contract for four and a half years. He made his league debut for Seville in the 4-0 defeat against FC Barcelona on matchday 21 of the 2004/05 season . Adriano has been on the left since that game and has played a total of 16 league games this season, five of them full-time. His team finished sixth at the end of that season, qualifying for the UEFA Cup . In the following two years he won the UEFA Cup twice with Sevilla . When he won the UEFA Cup in 2007 , he scored the opening goal in the final against Espanyol Barcelona , which his team won on penalties. In September 2006 Adriano extended his contract with Seville for another two years.

In 2009/10 he took part with Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 with Sevilla, as in the 2007/08 season .

For the 2010/11 season he moved to FC Barcelona and was the first new signing under the new President Sandro Rosell . He signed a four-year contract with an option for an additional year. The transfer fee was 9.5 million euros and can increase by a further 4 million euros. On October 2, 2011, Adriano scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 away win against Sporting Gijón , it was his first in the shirt of FC Barcelona.

For the 2016/17 season , Adriano moved to the Turkish Süper Lig at Beşiktaş Istanbul for a transfer fee of 600,000 euros, which can increase by 1.7 million euros if qualifying for the UEFA Champions League . In July 2019, Adriano returned to Brazil where he joined Athletico Paranaense . The contract had a term until the end of 2020.

National team

With the Brazilian U-20 selection, Adriano won the gold medal together with Dani Alves at the Junior World Championship in the UAE in 2003 . With the exception of the last group game against Australia, he was on the starting line-up in every game of his team.

In July 2003 he made his debut for the senior team during the 2003 Gold Cup in the first game against Mexico . Adriano, who played all five games in this tournament from the start, failed with Brazil in the final against Mexico.

In 2004 he was in Brazil's success at the 2004 Copa America , but remained without commitment. On November 15, 2006 Adriano played his last game for the time being. Only four years later, on October 11, 2010, he was used again in the dress of the Seleção. Under coach Mano Menezes , who took over the team after the disappointing World Cup in South Africa , Adriano was substituted for André Santos at halftime in the friendly game against Ukraine .
