The Japan Football League 2012 was the 14th season of the Japan Football League . Due to the withdrawal of Arte Takasaki after the registration deadline, only seventeen clubs took part in it. The season started on March 11th and ended on November 18, 2012.
The championship was won by the extraordinary J. League member V-Varen Nagasaki , the club thus rose to the J. League Division 2 2013 . There was no sporting relegation in the regional leagues after Tochigi Uva FC was able to hold the class in the relegation against the third-placed in the regional league final round Norbritz Hokkaidō . However, with the three-time JFL champions Sagawa Shiga FC, one of the most successful teams to date withdrew from the league after the end of the season for financial reasons, and the club was subsequently dissolved.
mode
The clubs held a simple double round tournament . There were three points for a win; in the event of a tie, each team received a counter. The table was created according to the following criteria:
- Number of points scored
- Goal difference
- Goals scored
- Results of the games among themselves
- Decision game or coin toss
For promotion to the J. League Division 2 2013 only clubs were eligible that had the extraordinary membership of the J. League , completed at the end of the season within the top four of the table and withstood a final review by the J. League .
Due to the reduced number of participants, it was originally planned that the worst team would be relegated directly to the regional league and the penultimate relegation games should play against the third-placed team in the regional league finals . By the withdrawal of Sagawa Shiga at the end of the season, however, the penultimate was spared and the last took part in the relegation games instead.
Attendees
A total of seventeen teams took part in the season. The exceptionally reduced number of participants was due to the short-term withdrawal of Arte Takasaki after the closing date for financial reasons . Also no longer there were the promoted J. League Division 2 2012 , FC Machida Zelvia and Matsumoto Yamaga FC , as well as JEF Reserves , who had already announced their retirement at the end of the season during the 2011 season. Machida, Matsumoto and the JEF reserve were replaced by the three best of the 2011 regional league finals , YSCC Yokohama , Fujieda MYFC and Hoyo AC Elan Ōita .
Prior to the start of this season, AC Nagano Parceiro received J. League Extraordinary status . The number of extraordinary members in the league fell at the beginning of the season to a total of only two teams, with V-Varen Nagasaki being the other club with this status. During the season, AC Nagano Parceiro was also awarded extraordinary membership, but due to the inadequate stadium, Nagano was not eligible for promotion to Division 2 until the renovation work was completed.
In other changes, Mio Biwako Kusatsu replaced the name of the hometown with the name of the prefecture and henceforth was called Mio Biwako Shiga .

Relegation
After the end of the season, shortly before the turn of the year, the relegation games between a participant of the Japan Football League and a team in the regional league final round took place. The original plan stipulated that the sixteenth should play against the third party in the final round; after the withdrawal of Sagawa Shiga FC, the sixteenth Honda Lock SC was spared and the actually relegated seventeenth Tochigi Uva FC was named as a JFL participant. As an opponent of the team from Tochigi Norbritz Hokkaidō qualified for the two games.
In order to forestall a weather-related failure due to the climatic conditions Hokkaidōs in December, both games were played in Tochigi. In the first leg, Norbritz, officially functioning as the home team, prevailed 2-1, a penalty goal in the second leg equalized for Uva after the return leg. Since the away goals rule did not apply, an extension first followed ; However, this remained goalless, so that ultimately the penalty shoot-out had to decide. Here the higher-class club prevailed with 4: 1.
