St. Urban Church

The Evangelical Lutheran St. Urban Church is located in the village of Dedenhausen in Uetze . It is located on the western edge of the village on the site of an old hill fort, which is now used as a cemetery.

history

The church was built from 1700 to 1703 in place of an older dilapidated church in half-timbered construction on a rubble stone base. The first plans came from the Celle court architect Woltershausen. The bell tower was added in 1951, until then the church had a roof turret on the western end of the roof, in which the bells originally hung.

From 1998 to 2000 the church was extensively restored inside and out. It was given a new clay plaster, the framework was painted gray. Inside it was again provided with pews, the old, gray painted ceiling painting was exposed.

layout

The single-nave church has a trough-shaped wooden ceiling made of shuttering boards; the brown painting with neo-Gothic patterns dates from 1902. The interior is dominated by the “ peasant baroque ” altar, which was probably made in 1690. Above the altar table is a picture wall flanked by six rotated columns with three pictures: Behind the altar plate in the predella the Last Supper, above Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane , and at the top the risen Christ with the flag of victory, in 1936 there was an angel.

The oak pulpit on the south side of the chancel is kept in the same style and probably from the same period. Four carved evangelist figures adorn the parapet. The pulpit was restored to its old painting in 2007.

Baptismal font of the St. Urban Church in Dedenhausen

A special feature is the sandstone font from the beginning of the 14th century. It used to be in another part of the Church. There is no longer a cover, the notch to which it was attached can still be seen in the rock, it is filled with artificial stone. In the north, west and south of the church there is a horseshoe-shaped gallery. The north leg has been extended once, this can still be seen from the design of the parapet.

organ

The single-manual organ from 1968 is on the west gallery. It is designed as a positive in the gallery parapet, only the pedal whistles are in their own case on the west wall. It has six registers in the manual and two registers in the pedal . The pedal registers and two registers of the manual come from the previous organ. It was built by Friedrich Weißenborn from Braunschweig.

Bells

Two bells hang in the tower. The older one, with the tone of the '', was cast by the Radler bell foundry in Hildesheim in 1921. The second, with the tone b ', was cast in 2011 by the Bachert bell foundry in Karlsruhe.

Bell tower

To the east of the church there is a wooden bell tower, the design of which comes from the consistorial master builder Friedrich August Ludwig Hellner . The cladding is made of poplar wood. Under the pointed roof there are two arched openings, those on the village side are open, the others are paneled. There is a weather vane on the roof with the year 1838.
