The St. Veit Monument is a cast-iron monument on the St. Veit Hill on Landstrasse 875 in Altenesch near Lemwerder in the Wesermarsch district . It was inaugurated on May 27, 1834 by Pastor Gerhard Steinfeld on the site of a ruined chapel on the former battlefield of the Battle of Altenesch in 1234. It is dedicated to the patron saint St. Vitus .

It was nicknamed "Stedingsehre" in relation to the Steding War . It contains the inscription: “The Stedians who fell in the fight for freedom and faith on this battlefield. On May 27, 1234, the mighty enemies defeated the brave people. Bolko von Bardenfleth, Thammo von Huntorp, Detmar vom Dieke fell with their brothers. Consecrated by late descendants on the anniversary of the battle of 1834. "

Ten kilometers away is the Nazi cult site “ Thingplatz Stedingsehre ” in Bookholzberg , which was built 100 years later .
