history

The endeavor to have its own church in Höltinghausen existed even before the First World War , but had to be given up due to the high inflationary inflation after the war. Construction could only begin years later, in 1924. On December 2, 1926, the church was solemnly consecrated to Saint Aloisius of Gonzaga . In 1960 the church was expanded, and in 1964 the parish hall followed. Further buildings followed: the war memorial in the mid-1960s, the Don Bosco kindergarten in 1970/71 and the cemetery chapel in 1974. Between 1935 and 2014 there were several alterations and renovations (e.g. a new bell in 1935, alteration of the organ floor in 1986, cemetery design in 2007, renovation of the side entrances and the cemetery chapel in 2014, etc.).

On March 7, 2010, St. Aloysius Höltinghausen, St. Marien Halen and St. Margaretha Emstek merged to form a new parish under the name of St. Margaretha .
