Höltinghausen is a farming community in the municipality of Emstek in the district of Cloppenburg in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

history

The Höltinghausen peasantry was probably formed around 1400 by splitting off from Halen (1360 Westerhalen, 1417 Holtinghus).

The name Höltinghausen points to forests that used to be abundant: the Hölting is the gathering of the marrow members of a wood marrow. The fighting on the edge of the old village suggests medieval clearing measures .

Höltinghausen is located on the Oldenburg – Osnabrück railway line , which was built in 1875 and is used by the NordWestBahn , although the trains do not stop in Höltinghausen.

Sports

In 1920 the sports club Höltinghausen was founded as a football club. Over the years handball, table tennis, women's soccer and volleyball were added. Until the 2007/08 season, SV Höltinghausen was distinguished by its women's soccer division, the first team of which rose to the regional soccer league. The footballers have been playing for BV Cloppenburg since the 2008/09 season .

music

Music in the village has been made by the Höltinghausen Music Corps, the church choir, a children's and youth choir and a school since 1965.

St. Aloysius

In 1924, the Catholic St. Aloysius Church was built in the style of a basilica in Höltinghausen . The church was officially consecrated on December 2, 1926. It has been an independent chapel congregation since 1952. On March 7, 2010, the Catholic parishes of St. Aloysius Höltinghausen, St. Marien Halen and St. Margaretha Emstek were merged to form the parish of St. Margaretha .
