St. Andreas (Nuremberg)
The St. Andreas Church is the church of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Andreas Nuremberg. It is located in the Thon district in the northern part of Nuremberg .
history
Before the church was built, the congregation used the Löhe prayer room as a provisional church service room . As this had become too small for the growing community, it was decided to build a church. The Andreas Church was built in 1957/58 and consecrated on September 7, 1958 as the first church in Nuremberg after the Second World War . The name of the Church of the Resurrection was originally mentioned as a name . Since there was already a Church of the Resurrection in the dean's office in Fischbach , this name was out of the question. Finally, the name St. Andrew, after the apostle Andrew , was chosen.
The organ was installed in 1959 by the Hamburg-based organ builder Rudolf Beckerath . The Beckerath organ was a special feature in the region at that time, as it was not built in the style of southern German organs, but rather has a north German, bitter, masculine sound . In 1996 the organ was renovated, with the chest and pedal work in particular being upgraded.
