St. Anna Chapel in Höllberg

St. Anna is a Roman Catholic chapel in Höllberg , Upper Swabia , a district of Kammlach . Until 1923 the chapel belonged to the parish of St. Stephan in Mindelheim , before it moved to the parish of Oberkammlach, where the pastors had been coming from since the 17th century. The exact year of construction of the chapel is not known, but it is likely to date from the late 18th century. Renovations took place in 1939 and 1948.

The flat-roofed building with an arched end has two arched windows on both sides. However, this shape of the window may have been changed to its current state during a later renovation. At the west end of the north side there is an arched door, on the exterior there is a cantilevered eaves cornice with a newer wooden bell cage .

The altar dates from the 18th or 19th century. It is made of wood and is marbled. On a strip that fills the apse is a base with four figures. They are likely to have been created around 1730. Two of them represent Saint Anne and the Child Mary, which she is holding by the hand. Two sculptures of bishops were probably made at the beginning of the 16th century. One of the bishops has a child as an attribute, which could identify him as Augustine. Other statues are a St. Michael from the same period as the bishops and a St. Sebastian from the middle of the 18th century with Gothic features. A popular crucifix from the first half of the 19th century is also in the chapel. A Mater Dolorosa made of clay is believed to have been created around 1500. Saint Urban, who used to stand in the chapel, is now placed on the left side altar of the church in Oberkammlach. The stalls have curved plank cheeks and date from the 18th or 19th century.
