history

Catholic services were held on the Gut in Gestorf as early as 1940, initially in the rooms of the manor house. On August 19, 1975, Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen inaugurated the St. Bernward Chapel, which was set up in the estate's former farm workers' house, it was around 93 meters above sea level and was used for church services until 1991. In 1994 the chapel was given up and the building is now used for residential purposes.
