St. Cäcilia (Düsseldorf-Hubbelrath)
The Catholic parish church of St. Cäcilia in Düsseldorf-Hubbelrath dates back to the 10th century and was partly built in its current form in the 12th century.
history
In 950, Hubbelrath and a chapel were first mentioned in a document. The chapel and tower were rebuilt in the 12th century. Around 1440 the nave was renewed. The choir was built in 1690 and the sacristy in 1722. In 1826 the spire and acoustic arcades were renewed, and in 1840 the vaulted ceiling was replaced by a flat ceiling.
St. Cäcilia belonged to the Gerresheim monastery from its foundation until secularization .
Furnishing
The body of the cross on the west side of the church was carved by the Hubbelrath hobby artist Friedrich Wicht in the late 1970s.
The St. Cäcilia bell from 1440 by Heinrich Brodermann is the oldest church bell in Düsseldorf .
