Location of the territory

Saint Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla was an overseas territory of the United Kingdom in the Caribbean . In 1958 it was incorporated into the West Indian Federation , an amalgamation of several British colonies to form an independent state. When it collapsed in 1962, Saint Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla became a British colony again.

On February 27, 1967, the Territory received full internal autonomy as the Associated State . Anguilla separated from the state on May 30, 1967 and declared independence in 1969. However, this was neither recognized by the government of St. Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla on St. Christopher nor by Great Britain, so that the state name St. Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla was still used (e.g. on the 4-dollar FAO Coin of the Caribbean States from 1970).

Anguilla officially became a separate British overseas territory in 1980 , while the other islands became independent as Saint Kitts and Nevis in 1983 .
