Governor Knowles State Forest

The Governor Knowles State Forest is a protected forest in the northwest of the US state Wisconsin and extends about 90 km along the St. Croix River . Its area is about 80 km² and is within the Counties Burnett and Polk . Originally the name of the State Forests was St. Croix River State Forest , but was renamed in 1981 in honor of the 37th Governor of Wisconsin , Warren P. Knowles .
