St. Francis of Assisi (Šilalė)
St. Francis of Assisi is a neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church in Šilalė , Lithuania . It is subordinate to the Deanery Šilalė ( Diocese of Telšiai ).
history
After the landlord Orvydas (Orvydavičius) built the first church in Šilalė in 1533, the parish was established. The pastor Jonas Tartila joined the Reformation and had in 1536 after Lithuania Minor emigrate.
Pranas Pilsudskis built a brick church in 1769, which was destroyed by fire in 1829 and renovated in 1830. There was a parish school.
The current church was built from 1905 to 1909.
