The Sidelen-Hütte is a mountain hut in the Swiss high valley Urserental and therefore located in the Urner Alps . It is the highest hut in the canton of Uri and is operated by the Gotthard Alpine Sports School in Andermatt , which is organized as a cooperative .
Geographical location
The hut is located at the foot of Sidelengletschers and is among others on a mountain trail from the hotel Furkablick at the Furka Pass road accessible from. It serves the Swiss Alpine Club as the basis for numerous climbing courses and was also made famous through an advertisement by the mountain sports outfitter Mammut on the nearby rock towers known as "camels". To the north lie the Gross Bielenhorn and the mighty Galenstock ; to the west there are large and small furkahorns .
Trivia
In 2005, an SAC youth organization set up a fictitious “Hanicity” stop for Postbuses during a climbing course - on the almost vertical “Hannibal” rock tower above the hut.
The installation has a stop board and a bench.
