Tiefenbach ( 2110 m above sea level ) is a district of the municipality of Realp in the Urseren valley in the Swiss canton of Uri .
Tiefenbach is located on Furkapass -strasse and essentially consists of the Hotel Tiefenbach and some farm buildings . The “umbrella house Alpenlaus” was built in 1867 by the canton of Uri for the road keeper. In 1910 it was given the name "Hotel Tiefengletscher" and in 1940 its current name. The first post bus to cross the Furka Pass passed through here in 1921 .
Tiefenbach has a stop for the Furka Mountain Route (DFB) steam train , located 265 m below Furkapass Strasse , which runs from Realp (Canton Uri) through the Furka summit tunnel to Gletsch and Oberwald ( Canton Valais ).
Starting point for hikes to the Sidelen Hut and Albert Heim Hut (various mountain climbs are possible from there; see hut links).
