Lilium amabile (synonym: Lilium fauriei ) is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the Sinomartagon section .

description

The onion of Lilium amabile is egg-shaped to round, white, 3 to 4 centimeters high and has a diameter of 2.5 to 3 centimeters. The numerous close-fitting scales are lanceolate to lanceolate-egg-shaped, tapering to a point, around 4 inches long and around 2.5 inches wide. The plant reaches a stature height of 40 to 100 centimeters, the dark green, rooted stem is cylindrical in cross section and covered with white, firm and short hair.

The sessile, three- to multi-veined leaves are narrowly lanceolate, tapering to a point or slightly blunt and are spread horizontally to slightly hanging scattered in the upper two thirds of the stem. They are 2 to 9 centimeters long, 5 to 10 millimeters wide and densely covered on both sides with firm, white hair, the slightly bent back edge is ciliate, the tip is slightly thickened and brown.

Flowering time is from late June to early July. The inflorescence is a cluster of one to three (rarely up to six) nodding, unpleasantly scented flowers , there are two bracts , rarely one. The flower stalk , densely covered with short hairs, is 2.5 to 5 centimeters long.

The identically designed bloom are repulsed strong, usually red, orange or yellow sometimes dark and densely spotted black on the outside papillous and nailed at the base. They are 3.5 to 5.5 centimeters long, those of the outer petal circle are lanceolate and 8 to 10 millimeters, those of the inner lanceolate-ovate and 1.4 to 1.6 centimeters wide. The nectar gutter is papilous and around 2 centimeters long.

The stamens are shorter than the bracts, the stamens smooth and awl-shaped, the anthers chocolate brown and the pollen vermilion. The slightly angular ovary is 10 to 12 millimeters long and 3 millimeters wide, the curved stylus around 12 millimeters long, the thickened, lobed stigma reddish brown. The capsule is 2.5 to 3 inches long, 1.5 to 1.8 inches thick and inversely ovoid to elliptical.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

distribution

Lilium amabile is native to the Chinese province of Liaoning and South Korea . In South Korea it is found at altitudes between 100 and 1400 meters, preferably on sunny slopes in nutrient-poor volcanic soils, granite and sandy soils.

Systematics

The species was first described in 1901 by Ivan Vladimirovich Palibin , the epithet refers to its attractive appearance ( amabile = lovely), it is assigned to the Sinomartagon section . In 1939 the variety Lilium amabile var. Luteum was described on the basis of yellow-flowering specimens from culture , but is no longer accepted today. Lilium amabile is morphologically close to Lilium floridum .
