The Church of St. Georg is the Roman Catholic village church of Ellwichtern , a district of the community of Schönberg in Upper Bavaria .

The church was originally built in the 15th century in the Gothic style , but the structure was completely changed in the 18th century.

description

The decoration of the church includes an almost completely free, painted high relief in the altar shrine. It shows the patron saint of the church, St. George , who draws his sword against the dragon lying at his feet. In the background the virgin king's daughter, whose parents watch the fight from the rock castle.

To the right of this is a painted wooden figure of St. Florian about 90 centimeters high . He is shown standing in full armor, the flag in his left hand, the water bucket in his right. Including the burning house.
