St. John the Baptist (Passau)
The branch church of St. John the Baptist is a hospital church on the Rindermarkt in Passau .
In 1198 the Passau Cathedral Chapter founded a hospital in the suburbs, supported by the St. Johannis Spital Foundation. In 1278 the city took over the hospital, which still exists as a senior citizens' home today.
The hospital church of St. John the Baptist was also started in 1198. The current building dates mainly from the 14th / 15th centuries. Century. The church has two naves with a cross vault and a chapel to the north. A restoration took place from 1860 to 1864, which resulted in the largely neo-Gothic furnishings of the church. A relief depiction with Christ between Mary and John comes from the 15th century.
