St. Joseph Essen-Katernberg

The Roman Catholic St. Joseph's Church in the Essen district of Katernberg is a parish church of the parish of St. Nikolaus. It was from 1888 to 1889 according to plans by Heinrich Nagel Schmidt as a neo-Gothic brick - Basilica built. The building and furnishings are largely original. The church was on 14 March 1991 under monument protection provided.

The foundation stone of the church was carried out on 29 July 1888. On 22 December 1989 she was benediziert and the first service celebrated in her. The western yoke and tower were added from 1898 to 1899. The church consecration was carried out by the Archbishop of Cologne, Cardinal Anton Fischer  - Essen was part of the Archdiocese of Cologne until the Ruhr Diocese was founded in 1958  - on October 8, 1907.
